Short Service Commission (SSC)

All applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a Nigerian as stated by the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s Constitution of 1999, as amended.
  • By January 2022, you must be a male or female between the ages of 23 and 27.
  • Applicants who are mentally, medically, and physically fit as defined by Nigerian Army standards are required.
  • At least two recognizable referees who are either a Local Government Chairman/Secretary, an officer of the Armed Forces not below the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and equivalent or an Assistant Commissioner of Police and above who must hail from the applicant’s state of origin must recommend and attest to his/her good character.

  • They must be willing to submit a Letter of Confirmation from their previous educational institutions.
  • Be at least 1.68m tall (for men) and 1.65m tall (for women) (for females).
  • It is required that you have never been convicted in a court of law.
  • The Commanding Officer/Commander must confirm that military personnel does not have any disciplinary cases.
  • Have a first degree in the sciences, arts, or humanities from an accredited institution of learning with at least a Second Class Lower Division or an HND in the arts, sciences, or humanities with at least a Lower Credit. At the time of the study, courses of study must also be accredited.
  • Get a valid birth cert or a valid age declaration approved by the National Population Commission, a hospital, or a local government council.
  • Have a valid state of origin certificate.
  • Candidates (apart from serving members of the Military) must have a valid certificate of exemption or a NYSC discharge certificate.
  • Applicants who will have completed their NYSC by 2020 are eligible to apply.
  • Just post-secondary academic credentials obtained between the years of 2016 and the present will be considered.
  • Candidates must provide valid parent/guardian and Next of Kin contact information, including addresses and phone numbers.
  • No candidate may be a member of a cult, secret society, or fraternity.
  • There must be no inscriptions or tattoos on the candidates’ bodies.
  • All original copies of educational certificates must be submitted by the candidates (primary to post-secondary).
  • Service members must show valid military identification cards as well as recommendation letters from their Commanding Officers/Commanders. In tertiary academic institutions, they must also present valid letters of official sponsorship. In addition, they must have served in the Nigerian Armed Forces for at least 5 years.
  • All service members’ candidates must affirm their service status on their application, as required by the Nigerian Armed Forces’ Harmonized Terms and Conditions of Service. Failure to do so is a crime, and failure to do so will result in disqualification at any stage.

Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC)

  • All applicants must meet the following requirements:
  • Be a Nigerian as outlined by the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s constitution.
  • By January 2022, medical consultants should be between the ages of 20 and 40, and male or female doctors must be between the ages of 20 and 30.
  • According to NA standards, you must be mentally, medically, and physically fit.
  • At least two identifiable referees who are either a Local Government Chairman/Secretary, an officer of the Armed Forces not below the rank of Lieutenant Colonel or equivalent or an Assistant Commissioner of Police and above who must hail from the applicant’s state of origin must recommend and attest to his/her good character. Referees’ passport photos must be attached to the letter of attestation.
  • Applicants to submit an attestation letter from their previous institutions.
  • Males must be at least 1.68m tall and females must be at least 1.65m tall (for females).
  • It is required that you have never been convicted in a court of law. Servicemen submitting must be free of criminal offences and have their Commanding Officer/approval.
  • Have a first graduate degree university of learning with at least a Second Class Lower Division or an HND with at least a Lower Credit.
  • Have an appropriate birth certificate or a valid age declaration endorsed by the National Population Commission, a hospital, or a local government council.
  • Have a valid state of origin certificate.
  • Candidates must have a correct exemption or an NYSC discharge certificate, whichever is applicable.
  • At the start of cadet training, graduates with professional skills must be formally registered by relevant regulatory bodies acknowledged by Nigerian law.
  • Only post-secondary academic credentials obtained after 2011 will be taken into account.
  • Parents/guardians and Next of Kin must provide valid contact addresses and phone numbers to candidates.
  • There must be no inscriptions or tattoos on the candidates’ bodies.
  • All original copies of educational certificates must be submitted by candidates (primary to post-secondary).
  • Service members must show valid military identification cards as well as letters of recommendation from their commanding officers. To tertiary academic institutions, they must also present a valid letter(s) of NA sponsorship. They must have also served in the unit for a minimum of 5 years.
  • There must be no cults, societies, or fraternities among the applicants.
  • All-female candidates are encouraged to apply for specialist crops such as medical, legal, supply, and transportation, or Army public relations.
